Today, I was diagnosed with migraines. Any loud sounds or bright lights make it worse. I'm the drummer for a heavy metal band, so I now have to choose between really bad migraines or a career. FML

You should always out your health before most things! Remember that you only have one body, while you can have multiple careers. Fyl though, and I hope the medications are effective :) I have heard that migraines are horrible to say the last, so good luck in the future, always a lot of options left.

#3 Unless your passion involves murdering innocent people, in which case please stop what you're doing immediately . . . (absolutes can be tricky fiends, my dear number three).

i would take migranes over not playing drums any day, but thats just me... ive ruptured both my ear drums a couple times and have tendonitis in my ankles and i still keep on playing

Play quiet acoustic metal. I was in a band that did that.

Noise canceling headphones, and really good sun glasses should do the trick

You gotta hear the music to drum to it. That's just the way it works buddy.

Butterbur is the new migraine herb now. Well, probably not new, but people are asking for it now days. Butterbur. Go grab some at your local health store. Check for interactions with current medication tho. GL OP. PS. Let me know if it works for ya.

I heard that cigarette filters are great ear plugs.

I get migraines a lot. Excedrine migraine works great for me. Just think long and hard about your decision, I'd hate for you to think back on things and regret not being a drummer and doing what you love!

That actullay really sucks. x.x I'm very sorry OP. I can suggest a few things that may stop the migranes but it isn't really a cure. Lavender is good for headaches, and cut certain foods from your diet such as coffee. Keep a diary of what times a day the migranes start. Wear dark glasses on hot days and make sure you are drinking plenty of water every day, even if you aren't always thristy
