Today, I was doing my first shift waitressing in a café. Not an hour in, I'd already spilt tea over somebody and dropped two whole meals. Looks like this won't last much longer. FML

You have to crack a few eggs to make an omelette.

Probably one of the harder customer service jobs to do. just keep at it OP, we all have to start somewhere. Just fight through it.

Serving can be hard work! Especially if it's your first day. Don't stress too much OP. It gets easier (:

Don't worry OP! I'm sure spilling and dropping things will last a lifetime :)

Hope everyone at your work supports you and looks past a few first day hiccups. Good luck OP it can only get easier.

Right of passage for all waitresses, I broke 3 glasses my first day of bartending, it'll get better! (:

What the **** is this stupid word "waitressing"? A waitress or waiter is called such because they wait at tables. You were waiting. Would you say a teacher is teachering, a lecturer lecturering or a miner minering?

I would say you are a ****** in danger of being a ******* douche bag.

Not everybody is from the same ******* country you are, douchebag, things are said differently elsewhere.

hey 34 what his comment say it got moderated and wasn't able to see it. I wouldn't be surprise if it's him try talk shit about something he knows nothing about and looking ignorant while trying to pretend to know what he talking about

I'm college for Hospitality (restaurant owning, hotel owning, and culinary arts), and I've learned that if they didn't give you the proper training, then you cannot be the blame. They should've taught you how to serve correctly, without dropping things. Or maybe they did, and you're just unluckily clumsy. :p I'm sorry, OP.

What is "waitressing"? Do you say a teacher is "teachering" or a miner "minering"? A waitress or waiter waits tables.

Remember practise makes perfect. Every one makes mistakes to start with. That's life.

probably just a bad day or maybe a bit nervous. cheer up and good luck!

Wow, you get some morons moderating this site! I was banned for a comment being "inappropriate" just for pointing out amusingly bad English! Bad English that even Firefox spelling check in American English picks up as wrong. Banned by a moderator too thick to understand why "waitressing" is idiotic as a construction (waitress being derived from the verb to wait, being a female who waits on tables; waitresses wait tables) and thought that was equivalent to a diver diving or a driver driving (no, *******, it is equivalent to saying a diver is "divering" or a driver "drivering", that is the whole point) or a nurse nursing (no, equivalent to a nurser "nursering"). Indeed I was banned by an American too dumb to understand where the language "English" originates. No, no English person would ever use the term "waitressing".

Just when I thought you were a **** you go and totally redeem yourself by being a little bit funny.
