Today, I was doing my first shift waitressing in a café. Not an hour in, I'd already spilt tea over somebody and dropped two whole meals. Looks like this won't last much longer. FML

Probably one of the harder customer service jobs to do. just keep at it OP, we all have to start somewhere. Just fight through it.

'Spilt' is often used instead of 'spilled' in the UK, where OP is from. Just like how 'learnt' can be used instead of 'learned'.

Every job has a learning curve, just laugh it off and try again :)

I've done hat as well, serving really sucks when you first start. It's difficult to get the swing of things. It took me about a year to fully feel confident on the floor, been serving for about 5 years now. Good luck op, it gets better!

All employment contracts should give you a pass for seven ****-ups in your first week, because I think everyone screws up in their first week.

I remember my first time waitressing, I messed up several orders but it gets better, I promise. Just try your hardest and let people know before hand that you're new at it and most will understand!:)

Maybe am your coworkers for a few tips on making it easier.

I did one day as a waitress. I check delivering drinks to the wrong table & getting change wrong using up all my trips in the process

It's not an easy job, OP. You'll make a few mistakes but you've gotta have confidence in yourself, and if you enjoy it, then you know you'll get better with time and experience! :)
