YDI for being a disgusting slob, OP. The ONLY reason to spit in public is if you get something bad in your mouth, like an insect or loads of phlegm or something. Anything else, man up and SWALLOW it. (If that was the case, and you DID have something bad in your mouth, then YDI for not spitting in a tissue!)

Spitting is completely normal, nothing wrong with it, but it wasn't the best idea to spit in heavy traffic.

I think maybe 50 just meant spitting as a habit in itself? It's not so bad while you're in your own car I guess, but I find it so gross when people spit as they're walking along the street
