Today, I was driving home through the middle of nowhere when a screw punctured my car tire. I arrived at the town's only auto shop to find that it had closed early. Frantic, I dialed the emergency number listed on the shop's locked door. On the other side of the glass, a phone began to ring. FML

Obviously the guy would've called someone eventually, but it's the ridiculous cruel irony of this that makes it an FML. He's stuck in the middle of nowhere, finds the only auto shop there is, and the number they post to call in an emergency is the phone in the shop, where nobody happens to be because they closed early. FMLs don't have to be unsolvable... I generally find that they're one of those "Oh, come ON" moments that we all have to deal with sometimes.

Why don't you just change the tire yourself? Or like #10 said, call information and then call AAA. It is 2009!!!

Um go back to your car lock all your doors close all your windows turn your lights off and call the cops and tell them where you are by the shops adress listed on the door or window or the name of the shop call both triple A AND cops

Yeah you should've attempted to change it I mean come on. I will say though that I got a flat and couldn't get the lug nuts off because the dealership tightened them down to much. Had to get a tow truck and the guy had an extension pipe to get more leverage and get them off.

Maybe it's good people that stupid won't be the ones fixing your car lol. Since you had your cell phone with you, you could have just dialed 911 or AAA. I hope you did that eventually.

Please don't call 911 because you have an f'ing FLAT TIRE unless your car is also surrounded by psychotic serial killers. Your stupid phone call on a non-emergency could be the difference between life and death to somebody who can't get through.

Thank you, dissimilitude, yours might be the most logical comment I've ever read on FML. People abuse 911 way too often and people in serious need wind up getting screwed because of it.

Actually... I just finished a self-defense class in MA which was run by cops. If you call 911 on a cell phone, they will transfer you to a non-emergency dispatcher who will send someone out to wait with you for the tow truck so nothing happens. People are so afraid to call 911. If it's the middle of no where and the middle of the night, yes, you can call 911. I told them once how I was with someone else and the car broke down on the highway, and she kept asking me why I DIDN'T call 911.

I'm sure the OP posted it after the fact. FMLs don't have to happen *today*

what are you gonna do, just watch the phone ring?? pick it up! =]

#24 & #5 lmao Haha ok suck but you should of had a spare or next time you take your hour long trip to walmart buy a emergency tire repair kit :p

why don't you frantically dial your insurance company or replace your tire with the spare? if you don't have either of the 2 then YDI
