That sucks, but unless you live in total seclusion, why didn't you try a neighbor or run to the store or even ask someone on the street to borrow their phone? In a case like that, I think most people would probably have said yes. I'm wondering if maybe part of the story got cut off, or if the OP deliberately left part of it off. Because who wouldn't go looking for another phone if an opportunity like that presented itself? I find it hard to believe that someone could be THAT secluded from the world that they couldn't find a phone somewhere within the space of an hour.
Hmmm....think of this as the universe trying to tell your lazy butt to get a job.
If you can't find a phone to call from within an hour, you don't deserve this money.
Skype much?
If you're British, it could have been Capital FM - they're doing this at the moment. Though I think they only give you half an hour to phone in. Owch, though. If it was Capital FM, I'd love to hear which one of the no-phoners you were.
You have an hour to find a phone... you deserve to fail

Apparently you pay your internet bill. And really, in an hour you couldn't find someone with a cell phone or use a payphone? YDI.
#3: He shouldn't listen to me...but instead do exactly what I said he should have done? Interesting.
