Today, I was feeling very ill after a severe anxiety attack. I asked my boyfriend to hold my hand until I fell asleep. He said he couldn't because he needed both hands to play on his gameboy. FML

haha we are in 2010 and this dude is still running around with a game boy? WTF!!! you should leave his broke ass for me, I have a psp! hehehe

well your fat so it's unlikely even a peadophile on FML would go for you. nice try. but get off FML and go where u belong. match.com

I understand you wanted to be held while you had that anxiety attack (hugging someone en stroking them works really good to calm them down) and that you wanted some comefort afterwards but him holding your hand untill you fall asleep?? You're fine now he probably calmed you down while you had that attack, since you are not complaining about that. And your attack was probably over something stupid because you also left that out. You can't expect him to always follow your wishes just ask him to sit next to you on the bed next time, he can play and is around. YDI for being so needy And yes I have expierenced anxiety attacks

Anxiety attacks are often irrational and quite personal, so you can't really judge the legitimacy of the reason objectively. When you're in the midst of one, telling yourself it's stupid tends to make things worse. You can live just fine without meds once you learn a) what is likely to trigger them, b) how to ride out the inevitable ones, and c) how to not live in fear of them. Those things take time and experience to learn.

Well you are certainly right about this. I know what it was what triggered them (something stupid), I let it go and never had them again. She probably had something else(/worse) what triggered them but she's talking about the feeling afterwards. Of course it depends on the severety of the attack but you'll most likely feel dizzy, light headed or sometimes pretty ill and maybe for her it's nice to have someone around to comfort her afterwards. But I think it's ridiculous to him hold her hand until she falls asleep.

@#108 Well, not entirely. After anxiety attacks I get exhausted and I fall asleep in five to ten minutes. Furthermore, I left out what the anxiety attack was about because: 1. It's personal as heck and I don't care to be flamed over that. 2. It's not the attack that is the FML's focus. 3. There's a character limit and I couldn't possibly fit it in if I wanted to. :) I can assure you, though, it wasn't a stupid reason. I will admit that I do have anxiety attacks that are triggered by little things, but that's usually when the stress just piles on. This time, though, it was actually rather legit. :)

I have an anxiety disorder too. I know how horrible and terrifying it can be and if you boyfriend can't help you through even one attack, he's not worth your time

What a butt, you'd think he wouldn't be such an ass at least while something like that happens.
