Today, I was fired from the restaurant I work at because I missed my shift. I missed it because I was in the hospital for food poisoning from the meal I ate at work last night. FML

sue them for illegal dismissal, they can't just fire you liket hat, they must ask for a doctors note before demising you. unless u work at some low profile shit restaurant... been there done that, solo not worth it.

its called at will employment. You can be fired for any reason, or even no reason at all as long as the termination isn't based on your sex, your religion, you marital status, ect.

well if your job was that important to you, you should of called in so they knew where you were. and if you were too sick to call, you should have had someone else do it. I, myself work at a restaurant as well...and your bosses don't care where you are, you have to call in. YDI

You may not have legal employment recourse, but food poisoning by a public restaurant is covered by the FDA (federal level). The ironic thing is that you can include job in your complaint. Actually, I think you have them by the short and curlies...
