Today, I was going shopping with a friend. I got up to get off the train and landed on my ass. Not only had I walked into the metal bar, I'd broken my $800 glasses, and the train doors had closed, with my friend on the other side of the doors. FML

Ironically I just saw an ad on the TV: "Get two pairs of frames and lenses for $99! (With purchase of an eye exam.)" So, in short, anyone who buys glasses more than about $300 is a preppy idiot too worried about how (s)he looks to care about anything else.

For all the idiots talking about 800$ glasses,I'm pretty sure the OP mean myopia glasses or something like that. Believe me they are EXPENSIVE.

AND NO ONE NEEDS THOSE KIND OF GLASSES who the heck would spend 800 dollars on a pair of glasses is beyond me.

My myopia glasses didn't even cost $100. And they look decent and have lasted me around 7 years by now. What exactly are you saying?

To people who say that shopping for glasses is expensive and that this is an FYL: 1. No shit, Sherlock. Saying glasses are expensive is like saying that the sky is blue. Everybody already knows. 2. The point that these $800 broke, which isn't supposed to happen, not that they're $800. 3. You'd have to literally run into a pole on purpose face first to **** up this badly. FYL for getting hit (it was prob. an accident) and YDI for buying crap glasses.

Maybe her prescription is really bad. I know mine are. My frames were about $250. With the lenses, they are $500 something. FYL, OP ... but if you have an insurance, it might cover.

while that sucks...$800!!!!!! i don't know any eyesight impairment that requires almost a thousand dollar glasses

Without insurance, glasses can easily add up to $800. And everyone saying that you don't need to buy expensive frames... If you have the type of lenses that cost $400, chances are you need your glasses on your face pretty much every waking moment. So, yeah, the scratch protection, transition lenses, etc. are totally worth it (and the thinner lenses, if you're incredibly near-sighted). And since they're going to be on your face 16 hours a day, you probably want them to look good, too (anyone who has ever made fun of someone's ugly glasses has no right to argue that fact). Add on the cost of the eye exam ($50 or so for just the glasses; more than that if you have eye problems and they need to check eye pressures, dilate your eyes, etc.) It's not difficult to hit $800 for a good pair of glasses if you're practically blind.

Am I missing something here? You can get glasses in England for about £3-5. People saying they 'only' paid $50 for glasses is confusing, $800 boggles the mind 0_o

y would u buy 800$ glasses? thats stupid. wats even more stupid is that u ran into a pole and broke them, hahaha!!!!

$800? I don't even know of glasses that cost that much. Even designer glasses are around $300 from what I've seen.
