Today, I was going to the bathroom at work. When I stood up, I noticed a little button on the side. I pressed it and the toilet flushed. I've worked there for nine months and just found out today that our toilets don't flush automatically. FML

I have seen some automatic toilets that do indeed have a manual flush button. So this could have been one of those possibly.

in fact, most have that button. that way, the toilet remains operational even if the automatic component breaks or is otherwise malfunctioning

Automatic toilets usually have a manual flush button, too, but how can you walk away from toilet without hearing a flush? Or without even trying to find a button that makes your crap flush?

**** your co-workers life, they had to deal with you leaving your shit in the toilet.

Automatic flush valves have a manual button just in case the battery is dead. So you're good

Don't you double check? And on that note I hope you noticed the toilet paper next to you to wipe your ass.

Learn something new everyday...but I find it odd you didn't realize when you left there was no sound of a flush

Many automatic toilets also have tiny red buttons that you can push if the sensor doesn't work. I assume OP thought they were only automatic rather than not checking to see if the toilet flushed behind him.

so you're the asshole always leaving a shit floating in the toilet...
