Madster15 tells us more.
OP here, I actually found it rather cute more than annoying, when I'm out though the cats will be too. vasoline and Vicks on the tap? no thanks, that would make ME avoid the taps too. changing the faucets all over my house could be more expensive than anything. the cat puns....please don't. number 23 should also be shunned, cat hater. lastly, I should point out I have three cats because one was stray, if I give him to a shelter she will be killed because she is rather unfriendly at times.

Cats hate being drenched in water. but the do love drinking straight from the tap...well, at least my cats do.
Actually, my cats play with the water from the taps too...they try catch the water with their paws.
My cats jump at the doorknobs and occasionally land a lucky grab to turn them and open doors throughout the house. Smart little animals, almost too smart for their own good! One lets herself back into the house from the garage. So shutting doors would probably just present them with a new challenge.
I can empathize. My cat likes to sit on the Xbox and use his tail to turn it on and eject the games. I've had to train my kids to turn off the power strip after they finish playing so that it won't get broken.
You can buy childproof tap covers that would probably work for cats too. I'd check my local baby store.
I have a cat that pees all over my house. I'd much rather have your problem. I can't bring myself to give her up because it's not going to stop her behavior, I really love the little brat, & her next owners might not be as kind about the problem. We're working on finding a resolution to the problem, though. I know there's a reason for it. I just have to find it & fix it so she's happy. & my other cat would probably be all depressed & junk if he didn't have her around to best him up! : P
Have you made sure it's not a UTI/bladder/kidney infection? Because that's something that can cause urination problems, and kitty would be hurting a lot. If that's it, the vet will probably give you a round of antibiotics for her and things should clear up just fine. Cats can get dehydrated really easily because their 'natural' diet would have them get most of their hydration from their prey, so the instinct to consume water isn't as urgent.
yes, it was nice, until we recently worked out she is pregnant.
Those are some smart cats, can I have a kitty when they have babies?

The perfect plan by the cats. Raising the water bill...perfect crime.
Nobody likes you, either!
