Today, I was in a music shop looking for a new guitar when someone called out someone else's name and jumped on my back. I lost balance and fell forward and broke 3 guitars and damaged another 6. The guy said "Sorry, thought you were someone else" and ran out. I now have to pay £2500. FML

File a police report and ask for the name of the store's insurance carrier. Send the insurance carrier a copy of the police report.

This happen to me and school once i knocked the kid off my back and got suspended. FML & FYL

you should have grabbed the guy so he couldn't run away.

Didn't the shop owners see the ruckus? They should've caught that ************...

Unless you're a total pushover, no, you DON'T have to pay L2500. Take it to court if you have to...and especially since I can't imagine any shop with thousands upon thousands of pounds of musical equipment NOT having video surveillance. If you roll over and just accept the bill, then YDI.

yea thats what i was thinking thats pretty cheap for damaging/destroying 9 guitars most stores would make you pay full retail for even a little scratch on a new guitar

at least you didn't fall on top of a pile of vintage gibsons! haha. but yes, fyl.

Countersue the the storeowner failing to provide a safe environment: http://www.shandellblitz.com/CM/FSDP/PracticeCenter/Personal-Injury/Slip-and-Fall.asp?focus=topic&id=4 It's a BS claim, unless you can show that the owner should have been aware of rowdy customers, but they may prefer to settle than deal with the paperwork.
