I hope you at least apologized. She's obviously aware of her condition or she wouldn't have recognized it when you made the face at her. Just admit that you've allowed your expectations for how people tend to look to color your reception of anything unexpected, and that the way you responded was a mistake that you wish you could take back. Honesty's better than avoidance and ass-kissing any day, and if you're sincere about it at least she'll know that you're doing it because you know how shitty it made her feel and not just because you're trying to alleviate your own guilty feelings about the situation.
