Favoritism sucks, but you can always take that info to the next level up.
We also have no idea how much time off the submitter has taken verses how much time the person who did get Christmas off got. Maybe the submitter already had Thanksgiving off, or a bunch of other time, that the other agent did not take, meaning it's the other agent's "turn"
Sounds like my work....
I can see the headlines already, "Devout Christian Forced to Work on Christmas" even if that isn't the case, it'll still cause some commotion. I don't know about in the states, but in Canada it's illegal to force someone to work on a religious holiday, just like it's illegal to force someone to work Sunday mornings if they go to church. They can make you work New Year's day no problem but Christmas, nope.
Nope, you're wrong. Labour laws vary from province to province in Canada, but in general it's not illegal at all. Your employer has the right to make you work any holiday or not, provided they pay holiday pay if you're an hourly worker, unless you have an employment contract that explicitly prevents them from doing so. You have no inherent rights that entitle you to have religious holidays, or any holidays off.
I am #10 and I have all sorts of time to take off but I haven't taken more than 5 days off in 2 years! I am not mad just confused why I wasn't at least told about it till now, o would have taken thanksgiving off to spend with my family! also I worked every holiday last year and this year
#21, that is not at all true. Under the employment standards act, anyone can be asked to work a stat holiday. But you have to get either time and a half or a stat day for it. Nothing at all to do with religion. At least in Ontario this is the case.
aww that's ****** up

It's a conspiracy.
He didn't ask too early at all. A lot of businesses have a policy that you must put in your holidays a certain length of time before you want them, especially if they are over holiday periods. The place I work has this policy (in fact, we aren't even allowed to book time off at Xmas at all). Having said that, if this business does have that policy, then they're giving the other guy some extreme special treatment. I'm sure you can complain about this, especially if he didn't give you a decent reason fro rejecting your holiday request.
