Today, I was lying in bed minding my own business when my mom entered the room. I was proposed to a few weeks ago by my boyfriend, and my mom came in to tell me that my boyfriend's mom was on the phone. Turns out, he stole the engagement ring from her drawer. FML

What an idiot, I would dump him.. He could have turned it into something romantic, like a ring with no rock and promise to fill it as he becomes more successful in life or something..

How old are you that you both live at home? Sounds to me like a high school "engagement"

yeah i was thinking the same thing

As I said earlier, I'm engaged and both my fiancée n I live with our parents. Were both in our 20s and were saving money to buy a house instead of renting an apartment because, Doris, it's a waste of money.

Oops, damn iPhone spell check, that was sopposed to be "to us" not "Doris"

I agree, Star. My man and I are doing the same thing. The economy sucks so badly right now!

Yes, I know the economy in South Jersey sucks! It looks like it's getting better because I finally found a job. I had graduated with my BA December of 2008 and have been activley looking for a job! Hopefully by this time next year, we're gonna have a house :)

kind of off topic, but i think if your old enough to be engaged, your too old to be living with you parents....

So if you want to get married at 19 (my friend's parents did that 23 years ago and they are not looking to divorce any time soon) yet you don't have enough money to support yourself just yet....It's wrong to get engaged? Many people love each other at an early age, and they get engaged. Then they wait until they have enough money to both pay for another place to live and a wedding. Really, it's not a bad plan.

Or the future mother in law is concocting this story so you will break off the engagement. I'd ask him in front of his mother. You will be able to tell who is lying then.

were you on the tyra show and are you 16? haha i saw this same thing, except he stole it from his aunt. anyway, that sucks and i don't think you should marry him. that's very immature and that makes me think you two are young. i could be wrong though.

First, give that  back! Next, smack your . Then, make that son of a  buy you a new ring.

LOTS of engaged people don't live together. as for living with parents, i lived with my parents till i got married because i was just out of college and didn't see the point in getting my own apartment for the length of the engagement. he lived with his for the same reason, but got an apartment a few months before the wedding so we could set it up for after the wedding. there are lots of reasons people do what they do.....

as for the OP's problem, it may not be a bad thing. he may have wanted to propose and couldn't do it any other way. it sounds more like he has to talk with his mom than anything else....

I actually know this girl, and its just that her bf isn't exactly rich, he means well, so don't jump to conclusions people
