Today, I was observing a children's class as a part of a training program. The teacher asked me to take one kid to the nurse's office because she wasn't feeling well. As soon as we step outside, I slip and fall down, taking the little girl with me. FML

You aren't supposed to let the children down

Next time, it might be best to hold her hand rather than carry her...and if you're going down, let her go OP! In seriousness, it happens and kids are pretty tough. i'm sure she wasn't critically injured.

It happens. Working with kids, this will not be the last accident.

"Fall" should only be changed to "fell" here if we change every verb in the sentence to past tense. What she's doing here is using present tense verbs to tell a story that happened in the past, which is very common in English to make the story more attention-grabbing. - ESL teacher
