I think your "casual" exit was a little on the slow side Op. I would've fast walked out of there. Don't drink with Jeff again.
Dont drink with racists!
Getting real tired of your shit, Jeff
Drinking and racist remarks are dangerous.
Should've stopped your friend. But I bet you and everyone else there laughed along, and that's why you all got your asses beat instead of just the one guy. Perhaps there's more to this story? Hope you follow up and tell us what your buddy said.
I would have gone with the "pretended to get a call" escape plan. Phone to one ear, hand over the other. It's loud and you have to take the call outside. Call me an asshole for abandoning ship, but i don't see the need to catch a beating for some (racist) colleagues. Best case scenario: You fight, connect on a few punches, but everyone gets beat up anyway. Worse case: you beat them up, cops get called, night in jail. Assault charges, disorderly conduct (possible racial violence charge) etc. lose- lose situation.
Yeah im sorry op people are too prideful now a days/:
#64, I suspect it's because OP tried to casually leave instead of challenging the racist's comments.

Yea...when any sentence begins with that statement it's probably extremely racist. Sorry you got caught up in that.
I would probably refrain from drinking with that colleague again.
