Today, I was outside searching for "treasures" with my son using small plastic shovels. All of a sudden he starts screaming. He dug up the bones of our old dog. I told him that we had sent him away to live on a farm, I even helped my son write letters to the farm owners. FML

Perhaps you should have buried the dog further down... he must've been awfully close to the surface if your son was able to reach the bones with a plastic shovel.

And this is why we shouldn't lie to our kids about dumb stuff. They can handle the truth.

Tell him the truth or tell him that they're dinosaur bones.

93 wins. it's probably not the best idea to lie to your kids, but seriously, it was done with good intentions. they just didn't want to see their child, and such a young one, go through that kind of pain. i think the people who say never ever lie to you kids under any circumstances probably don't have kids.

That kid is going to be sad for a long time. FHL

YDI for digging where you buried the dog and not digging deep enough. But seriously - stop ragging on her because she didn't tell her son. It's a parental thing - no one wants to tell their kid that their favorite pet just died.

YDI ONLY for not burying the dog deep enough...
