Today, I was pissed that I got a £60 parking ticket so rang my friend to rant about it. I then got pulled over by the cops for using my phone, and was fined £120. FML

I only hope that when you crash your car while on your phone, you do it into a pole or off a cliff so no innocent people or trees are killed. You deserve it and more, you stupid, arrogant, irresponsible ****. Hang up and ******* drive. You're behind the wheel of a two-ton weapon, so ******* remember that as you pony up your £180, assface.

Totally deserved, It's the law for a reason. One of my friends got hit by an idiot driving while on his mobile and it's ruined his life.

i wish I could revoke peoples driving privileges sometimes. learn to park; and get off the damn phone. :)

After getting another ticket you should have ran a red light or swerve into oncoming traffic. That would make you feel better?

Yet another testimony of human stupidity... Gotta love FML.

People like you shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a car.

Wow, DocBastard, I've rarely seen you this angry. I do agree with you. OP, sell your car and turn in your license, you are yet another danger on the road.

this seems like a over-reaction. I don't see how driving and talking on the phone is that dangerous so long as your primary focus is the road. I do think it's best to use hands free though.

Macntalkpro, this isn't an overreaction in any way. Distracted driving has been shown to be just as dangerous as drunk driving. I'm a trauma surgeon, and I can verify it firsthand. My MVC victims used to be mainly drunk, now they're just as likely to be texting or on the phone when they crash. There is a reason that more and more places are enacting laws against using mobile devices while driving. Still think I'm overreacting? Didn't think so.

Well said that man! (or woman. Don't mean to cause offense.)

67 - Have you tried texting or talking on the phone while driving? It's hard to keep focus when you're typing your text message or thinking of something to say. Here, I'll give you a safer exercise to try. Turn on the TV, turn on closed captions, try to text or talk on the phone with one hand, and type the closed captions on the computer or another phone with the other hand.

^ It sounded easy untill I tried it.

Well done, you broke the law and are blaming the police?? By the way, you're from the UK. No one in this country uses the word 'cops'. YDI.

A visitor, perhaps? Might explain, but not excuse, his disregard/ignorance for the rules.

Nobody says "pissed" either unless they're talking about being drunk.

Some people do use those words, they're words that are just not used as commonly as other words or used as much in the UK as other places. But they're still used.

If I had to guess, I'd say OP is an American living in the UK. 'Cops' isn't common, but isn't that weird either. 'Pissed' as in annoyed rather than 'pissed off' on the other hand would be a giveaway - 'pissed' in the UK would always mean drunk.

Yeah, but at the same time, I've never heard an American say that they've "rang a friend." Americans don't use the term "rang", they use the term "call." So I don't think you can tell the origin of the OP by his/her use of language. :/

I like how everyone is criticizing OP for using his phone while driving, but I bet more than half of you used your phone in the car. Some I bet have even texted a few times.

The difference is we weren't stupid enough to get caught. Also, we didn't complain online about breaking the law twice and somehow getting caught. The OP deserved it.

How does the truth of what we say depend in any way on whether or not we've ever used our phones while driving? A bad idea is a bad idea. The main key is in accepting responsibility for the stupid things you do, which the OP doesn't seem so keen on. And, for the record, while I used to use my phone while driving, I have since decided this to be a bad idea and have stopped as of years ago, so I hope that you'll allow me to speak.

OP is an idiot who shouldn't drive and I don't even own a cellphone. Problem?
