Today, I was pulled over for speeding. I speak 4 languages and thought if I spoke French, the Officer would let me off with a warning thinking I was a tourist. Afterwards I turned to my wife and said "I can't believe that worked." He was a few feet away and heard. FML

Time to state the obvious: should have waited until he was IN his car. YDI, son. :/

ALMOST got away with it, would have been awesome!

Silent harmony hit it on spot. This is fake. OP you overlooked something before submitting this ficticious FML.

I would have given you a ticket just for being French.

#23 I agree. And the whole "oh lemme fake that I can't speak english" thing... cops get that all the time. so unless he was a rookie cop he probably saw right through it...

you're so clever, you should be cop!

Hahahaha!!! Impatience always pays off (;

If you had read this properly, you would realize that it was the OP speaking, not the wife. To the OP: Sorry, I call fake for the same reason Silent_Harmony posted.

YDI = you deserved it. OP = Original poster. =] & I had a friend that did this but he was signing. He pretended like he was deaf... And got out of it!

Deaf people can get driver's licenses?

Yes, however cops are supposed to know all the basic signs to you were speeding or stop sign and other cop things. Driving is visual not audial

It deals with sounds to the extent that you may not see emergency vehicles(blind spot or something like that), so you need to be able to hear them. Isn't this law different in each state though?

OP is "Operating Person" on a forum... YDI you deserved it... welcome to the internutz

Yes, deaf people are not handicapped they just can't hear. Being deaf doesn't disable you from driving. Shit, how many people blast their music up so high that they couldn't hear a siren right next to them? Deaf people can do everything everyone who can hear can.. Except hear. It's no disability.

The person who submitted the FML, and You Deserved It.

ok who says that the police officer actually looked at the OP's driver's lisence and registration? If he was pretending to be confused and talking in French, then he wouldn't understand that the officer was asking for those things, therefore he wouldn't be showing them. That's probably what happened....then the police officer just gave up and let him off with a warning, at which point the OP failed. YDI (but still a pretty brilliant plan, had it worked.....)

I doubt that. I'm sure someone could translate. I even speak some french

Agreed...plus regardless of language isn't it freaking commons sense that if you get pulled over by a cop he wants to see your license+registration no matter what country you're in?!*lol*

YDI but great idea nonetheless
