Today, I was riding my bike with my parents. They make me wear a helmet when I'm with them. Some college age kids drove past and yelled, "Nice helmet!" My mother then told me, "They like you!" I'm sixteen and my helmet is blue. With flowers. FML

At least you are being safe... I had a friend die because he wasn't wearing a helmet. your parents are smart.

As much as I personally would like a blue helmet with flowers, I understand. I'm a college kid, and I'm willing to risk brain injury than be seen using a helmet on campus.

You're 16 and old enough to get a job to buy your own helmet. YDI.

college peeps making fun of you= immature morons. ignore.

here's a really great idea; get a job, its not a big deal, i've had one since i was 15, then buy a new one. you can get a new helmet for as little as 25 dollars canadian....thats like, a 4 hour shift...

Like everyone else said, buy your own helmet, then you can choose the look. You should always be wearing a helmet anyways on a bike... accidents happen. Do you think professional bicyclists wear helmets because it's stylish?

My mom does the same thing. My helmet is blue with clouds on it, though.

That's a sign that you need a new helmet.

Definitely get a new helmet. I have been riding for many years and have had a few accidents; some were my fault but most were the fault of others not paying attention. In two cases my helmet was shattered. I remember looking at it so freaking grateful that it was not my head that had taken the full impact.

i dont see why so many people are talking about the brain damage side of this, i ride my bike without a helmet and ive crashed it a whole lot into a lot of stuff ive hit my head but i dont get brain damage you just have to break your fall with another part of your body

Then perhaps you should be wearing elbow and knee pads instead of a helmet if you intend to "break your fall with another part of you body"... Its all fun n games till someone gets a subdural hematoma. Your ridiculous!
