#32, just because i don't relate autism to the word "retarded", it doesn't mean others don't. there is a general social correlation between being autistic and being retarded, even if they aren't the same thing. many people perceive it that way. and i know this very well, because i have walked with my sister in public before. a few times obnoxious kids have yelled out the word "RETARD" and snickered. so there's no need to feel bad for my sister, thank you very much. i am very good to her.
PS- #32 is hilarious. I agree with the whole retarded =/= autistic.
it totally depends, are you a guy or a girl? if a guy, i can see why that might be embarassing, but if you'ra g irl, then it' a girly helmet... no big deal... lol @ #32
my parents make me wear one too = ) its no big deal. Who do you have to impress on your bike anyway? = )
just dress cute, and no one will really care if you have a helmet on or not. better yet, dress cute, and enjoy your helmet with flowers. i'm in college and i would enjoy a cute blue helmet with flowers. better than brain damage in any case
...YDI for going along with it...
They make you wear a helmet because... 1) It's the law 2) If you fall it'll stop your head from being cracked open. Unless you actually think it's cool to not wear one... but hey, maybe some people find head injuries attractive... I don't mean sane or educated people, but... someone I'm sure thinks it's awesome

At least you are being safe... I had a friend die because he wasn't wearing a helmet. your parents are smart.
As much as I personally would like a blue helmet with flowers, I understand. I'm a college kid, and I'm willing to risk brain injury than be seen using a helmet on campus.
