how is this a FML?
okay honestly, people who say YDI, you try getting in an accident without a helmet show me how that goes over i never ever wore my helmet and then i did one day because i was babysitting and told the kids to wear one. and a stick got caught in my wheel and i flipped over the handle bars cracking my helmet in half. that could've been my head, could be YOUR head.
Next time wear a rainbow themed shirt and capri pants with thong sandals. They will like you even more.
For everyone who says it's the OP's fault for not being able to stand up to his/her parents, some people have parents who aren't pushovers. If I mouthed off to my mom, I'd get kicked out on the streets. But that does suck. Just avoid riding your bike with them any more, or get a cool helmet. =
So you'd (OP and commenters above who said they'd rather risk a brain injury) rather look "cool" than keep yourself safe? You do realize you'll look like an even bigger idiot if you do get a head injury. Or more likely... you'd be DEAD. But uhh... whatever. Go ahead and risk your life, then. Doesn't make any difference to me.
#7, you are a complete moron. did you not read #4? you would look more "retarded" with a serious injury from NOT wearing a helmet than just wearing one and being safe. and it actually is pretty offensive to say things like "they look retarded". my sister is autistic, so im offended. and i know there are many others out there who are just sick of hearing that. it's just obnoxious.
Real idiots saying YDI for wearing a helmet! Although I do encouarage you to get a new helmet.
Depending on where the OP lives, there might actually be laws requiring sixteen year-olds to where helmets. Here in NY, it's either 15 or 16, can't remember of the top of my head.

At least you are being safe... I had a friend die because he wasn't wearing a helmet. your parents are smart.
As much as I personally would like a blue helmet with flowers, I understand. I'm a college kid, and I'm willing to risk brain injury than be seen using a helmet on campus.
