Today, I was rushed to the ER due to a very swollen foot and high fever. The doctors said I just have a tissue infection but my parents believe I have a flesh eating disease. I can hear them discussing my future with an amputated leg. FML

wow, normally parents would be the opposite and say oh don't worry, the doctors will take care of it and have it under control. that's at least what my parents are telling me about my paralysis, so comfort ie a hugs thing to relax your mind and stress.

Anyone think that maybe the kid's a minor and the doc told him one thing so he wasn't worried/so the parents could tell him, and told the parents the truth? If OP's like 12 they're going to be apprehensive about telling him his leg's gotta go

If it was a flesh-eating disease or gangrene, OP would be in a lot of pain, and would have more symptoms. Maybe their parents were just joking to mess with them.

A good reason for parents to remain off the Internet, maybe? "Omg, you have every symptom, you're gunna die..." "never mind it's just a cold," my parents everyday. I'm all for getting a second opinion, but let doctors be doctors and do their job.

Look at the bright side OP, shoe shopping will become cheaper.

? No it won't... Who the hell's gonna sell you only one shoe?

Trolling Parents. :l They're good.

Cellulitis.... NOM NOM NOM!!!

Sounds like cellulitis (ex-nurse) Easily cured with some antibiotics and rest. Failing that, you might be growing a giant elephant foot that you could beat your parents with...

Actually, you'd know by now. That flesh eating thing they're talking about is a type of infection (a few, actually). And, again, the hospital would definitely already know as would you because it'd be up your leg fast.

I ended up in the hospital and I had a contagious illness. Nothing like waking up to a skull & cross bones on my door and having full suits/masks you see when something is highly contagious. Sorry OP I went on another tangent. Make sure that 1) they know you can hear them, 2) remind them that you are alive and therefore the one to make decisions when it comes to your body, 3) tell them to calm the hell down... many ideas and bad decisions come from panic and fear. Good luck OP.
