Today, I was screamed at by a lady for riding my bike too slowly in front of her car. I was in the bike lane, and so was she. FML

This has happened to me once. I honestly can't stand idiots who treat cyclists like crap. Or idiots in general for that matter.

Unfortunately, most -- and I mean MOST -- cyclists (at least around here in Cal) are complete assholes. If they have two yards to their right and they're driving a 35-55 mph curvy road, they're guaranteed to be riding right ON the lane designating the bike part of said road (I can understand narrow roads, trying to stay out of the way, actually WATCHING your dumbass kids so they don't try to ride out in front of a car, etc.). After years, I still see no explanation other than enjoying pissing everyone else off. That said, I agree that there are normal cyclists, but they're so rare that when I encounter someone on a bike being courteous, I actually smile.

I can attest to poor cyclist behavior here in So Cal. I've lived in other states and it's never seemed as bad as it is here. A lot of cyclists here seem disobey traffic laws and designated bike lanes. I watched a cyclist this morning cross a major intersection against a red light. He nearly caused a collision.

Sorry to hear about that. I live near DC, a somewhat bike-oriented city, so I've never seen anything that bad here. But it varies where you go in the US I guess.

#19, that's when I lay on the horn right as I go by them. Those ******* deserve it.

I do that when assholes block my exiting lane that they used to cut off other people

#19, I can't comment accurately, but here in the UK cycle lanes are usually full of gravel and broken glass, so we often avoid them. Plus, they're a bit narrow, and when you're on a bike, you need to be about half a metre from the kerb (at the very least) if you want to be seen and given space by cars. #49, you're a moron. It's because of people like you that we cyclists hate drivers. You do realise your horn was built to be heard clearly inside a car, whereas a cyclist has no ear protection whatsoever. I don't know your laws, but in the UK you're only ever meant to use the horn in a short beep 'to alert other road users to your presence', not as an obnoxious honk.

People are stupid you cant do anything about it but ignore it

Hard to ignore them when they run you over....

Okay....but then they run you over. Doesn't seem to make sense

This wouldn't have been in Seattle, & you followed by a Honda driver?

Mrs. Magoo: "Road Hog!!!" Honestly, someone needs to invent stupid sticker dart gun. When someone does something stupid in their car, you shoot the stupid sticker at the car. Later, the cops can casually pull over the car with a bunch of stupid stickers on it.

you should patent that, I'd be forever buying stupid stickers. I'm sure 75% of the town I live in found their lisence in a fruit loops box

I think your onto something here. Now you've just got to figure out how to make it work.

I had the same thought once then I realised, couldnt they take the stickers off?

I would abuse the crap out of that sticker gun. Tagging all cars; even cop cars.

And it's because of people like #42 that ruin everything for others.

will shite , are you calling her insane boy. :)

I doubt she if she sould have been capable of that. Looking at how ignorant she is, she must have had no idea about the width of the car.

Was the other lane bumper to bumper? If not I don't see why she didn't pass you

Geez how do these people get their licenses?!

Siettadulce 21

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Agreed. The British driving test has nothing other than 'move into the next lane' for passing a cyclist. My mother once tried to pass a cyclist on a narrow road, with a car coming the other way, and didn't even move over. It's people like her that get us hit by cars, because that test was forty years ago. In a world where Tour de France winners can get hit by a van, there's something wrong here.
