Today, I was sent to a customer's house to switch out a washing machine. My boss had assured me that everything I'd need was already in the truck. Halfway there, I ran out of gas and I realized I didn't have the gas card. My boss says it's my fault. FML

YDI for not taking personal responsibility to make sure YOU had everything you needed including gas...who doesn't check the gas gauge...

It was your fault, it is your responsibility to make sure YOU had YOUR gas card with you. And it IS common since to check the gas gauge before going past a gas station. Sorry you need to put on your grown up pants and own this one. Live and learn.

Your boss was mean, but it never hurts to double check EVERYTHING. I guess you know that now

It kind of is your fault though. Although your boss assured you, you should've taken the initiative to check yourself for just-in-case purposes.

You kinda deserve it though. You should've taken the initiative to check for yourself.

Most of you commenters sound like morons. OP wasn't complaint about the low fuel, so you can all stop saying OP deserved it for not checking the fuel. OP is complaining because the boss said everything was in the truck and the gas card, probably supplied by the company, was not included. This should have been fairly obvious to all of you, as you appear very high and mighty.

You do know what a gas card is right? It's a credit card. Do you leave your credit cards lying around? More than likely, they have fewer gas cards than they do trucks, seeing as access to company accounts is always highly regulated. Also, how many drivers do you think they have? Yea again, more than gas cards. A gas card is the kind of thing kept in a central, safe location until someone needs it and then checks it out for use. It is absolutely the drivers responsibility to go get the card if he needs it and not assume it was lying around just in case he drives like an idiot that day.

Looking at the tally, apparently so does FML

seriously! that's your fault for not checkin the gas gauge, stupid ducks like you need to have their license taken.

Well you should have doubled check. You boss can't do all the work.
