Today, I was sent to a customer's house to switch out a washing machine. My boss had assured me that everything I'd need was already in the truck. Halfway there, I ran out of gas and I realized I didn't have the gas card. My boss says it's my fault. FML

I am so torn on this one! I don't know if this is a fyl or a ydi for trusting your boss's word. Dang it! I'll go with both. I'm racking my tiny lil brain trying to decide!

How did you not realise it was low beforehand?? YDI.

So the car doesn't have a gas gauge ?

Ur boss gotta wipe ur ass too? Hell he loaded the truck for you!! If u got a flat would that be his fault too for not checking the tire pressure and the spare? Should he make sure u have the AAA card too?

I'm not in delivery, but it seems like your boss meant that he loaded the truck with everything you needed to actually deliver the machine, not necessarily meaning the truck itself was ready. Anyways, it takes two seconds to check a gas gauge and realize you need gas. In the real world, you can't blame others for things you should be able to handle on your own. Op sounds young and dumb.

In actuality it is your fault....you should've checked to see how much gas there was and also grabbed the gas card which I'm sure was covered in your training and if not... common sense should've told you that....who hops in behind the wheel and doesn't look at the amount of gas...just saying

Just how it works, no ones boss is ever willing to take the blame.

That is your fault. Why wouldn't you check the gas gauge before you left? Or have the gas card on you like you're probably supposed too.
