Today, I was standing in the parking lot with my sister, after my aunt's funeral, when my grandma walks up and says to my sister, "You're the one going places in life, I'm proud to have you as a grand daughter." She then looked at me, and walked away. FML

Today, while at my aunt's funeral, my grandma who has terrible memory loss asked me whose funeral we were at. I had to explain to her that her daughter had died. FML

Today, after my sister's wedding, a bunch of people were dancing. I noticed my grandma sitting alone and looking sad. My grandpa died last month, so feeling bad for her, I asked if she'd like to dance with me. She seemed a lot happier, until I accidentally caused her to fall and break her arm. FML

Today, it was my grandfather's burial. As the family was about to leave, a great aunt came up to my skinny, tall and pretty cousin and told her, "Stay beautiful and kind." Then, she walked to me and said, "And you, Stay kind." FML

Today, I went to my grandfather's funeral. As I stood there, bawling my eyes out, my aunt came over and put her arm around me. She leaned her head close to mine. I assumed she was going to say something comforting. Instead she asked where I'd bought my shoes from. FML

Today, we spent the day with my grandmother. During a family conversation, my sweet little grandmother looked me up and down, and without any hesitation said, "I remember you being so beautiful," before looking at my mother, mouthing, "What happened?" and laughing. She's 87. FML

Today, my grandpa died. I called my grandma to make sure she was going to be fine. After talking over the phone for 30 minutes or so, I told her goodbye and said, out of habit, "Say hi to grandpa for me". FML

Wow. That's a horrible thing to say. Don't worry about it though. You can't let anyone else validate you. You know who you are and where you're going and only you can control that. Hey, that should give you even more motivation to kick ass in life! Show that granny who's boss ;)

i get that all the time from my family too...my sister is 4 years younger than me, yet she is married, makes $10,000 a year more than me, has a house and is pregnant. the worst time was a funeral that occurred just after my graduation from college and just before my sister's wedding. My aunt was introducing my sister around to people, gushing to them about the wedding...no one cared that i was the first in my family to get a college degree! it sucked.

I love how many of you like criticizing the poster for her grammar when quite a few of you don't use apostrophes correctly! Consider the possibility that English may not be her first language or the fact that not all of us bother to look over our posts for grammar mistakes unless we really have the time to do so. I know many intelligent people who are lazy with spelling and grammar on Facebook, Myspace, etc. Don't listen to your grandmother hun, she'll be dead soon ;)

i have a grandma kinda like that. She adores my little brother and sister, but never really got past the point that I don't like her husband (who is not my grandpa). Don't worry, you don't need her to validate you!

I know how that feels, my brother was always the preferred grandchild from my dad's side...But I showed those bastards. hahha. I agree with #1 only u decide what you do.
