Today, I was taking a bus ride home, listening to some music. The music stopped and I assumed my iPod's battery had run out. Turns out someone managed to steal it, leaving my earphones in. I didn't feel a thing. FML

I'm imagining OP's iPod is playing, "You've been hit by, you've been struck by-" Thief unplugs the iPod, snatches it and sings "A smooth criminal." The thief then proceeds to moonwalk off the bus with the rest of the occupants performing choreographed dance.

Sorry OP, but I had to say YDI. On any mode of public transportation, you should be holding into your valuables with a death grip or keeping them concealed. I'm on a bus ride right now and my iPhone doesn't leave my hand, nobody sees my laptop, and my wallet and daughter stay by my side at all times. I even lied to a guy who asked me if I had a cell phone he could borrow for a minute, because I wasn't taking any chances. Kept it hidden in my pocket the rest of the time he was on the bus too. Sucks that your iPod got stolen, anyway.. But I hope you learned from it, heh.

Yes, because even with the earphones being connected to the ipod, I'm sure nobody would have noticed it if it was concealed. I understand having to be careful, but exagerrating is bad too...

Thats y i put my stuff where its actually touching me and i can feel it, or in my back pocket, then i'll be sitting on it, so i think ydi

i always keep my iPod in my hand when travelling on public transportation for his exact reason. when its in my hand i know its safe. and even out of paranoia i still check to see if its in my hand

I keep mine in my pocket for that reason..,hope you have the serial number down to track it.,,

Maybe if you could go 15 minutes without needing some form of entertainment this wouldn't have happened. Sit there patiently and quietly like people always had before this stupid smartphone fetish began.

First of all, who said anything about a smartphone? It was an iPod; not the same thing. Second, you don't know how long OP was on the bus, it might have been an hour or more, and what's wrong with wanting a little entertainment? Who wants to sit on a bus for any length of time with nothing to do but stare into space? If it's only a few minutes, fine, but I have an hour long bus ride to work and home again every day and I spend that time reading, texting, or listening to music. That's how I relax. I'm not gonna sit there just staring at the strangers on the bus for an hour. Also, before the "stupid smartphone fetish", people probably read or listened to music on the bus, just like OP. I really doubt they just stared into space then, either.

Isn't it more likely it just fell out?
