Today, I was taking my earrings out and thought I had lost the back of one. Turns out my ear infection has caused the flesh of my ear to grow around and engulf the back of my earring and it is still stuck in there. FML

that happend to me, but it was my whole earring, just go to a doctor, they gave me a shot and I couldn't feel a thing

Aren't you supposed to take your earings out in the event of an infection, don't know about you but that was explained to me by the person who did my ears, along with the paper they gave me on how to take of them. Also why did post on fml instead phoning your doctor at least?

Wow guess you should learn to listen to whomever pierced your ears. It's not that difficult to clean your ears. It will save you alot of discomfort in the long run.

The same thing happened to me u should gett bigger backings and don't leave them in so long and I had to get it removed in the er blood everywhere!!

What people seem to not realize is that yes, OP probably shouldn't have been wearing earrings... BUT, the infection could have happened AFTER. Say, she's allergic to the Nickel in the earring and put it in. It's been a few days, and she hasn't taken them out. They begin to hurt, but nothing too bad, after a few days more. But then the pain gets much worse, and she takes out the earring. then wow, infection from a nickel allergy causes body to work overtime, and try to heal, and mistakes the earring back as body since it's been there long enough. OP, my advice (this similar has happened to me, I continue to wear earrings made of sterling silver, or stainless steel) is to go see your doctor and have it removed, let it heal, then get your ear repeirced professionally. only wear stainless and sterling, to avoid future infection. also, take care to clean your earrings and your ears often. if there's a pair of nickel earrings you wanna wear, coat the back with clear nail polish. it'll help for one or two wears, hope that helped!!

And professionally done does NOT mean a boutique in the mall. >.

Sterling and gold have some nickel. The best earrings to wear are the stainless steel or titanium. The titanium won't cause any reactions at all for anyone
