Read the FML more carefully. The OP "said how close the Jewish people came to becoming" an extinct people. They never came close to being an extinct people; the OP is simply wrong.

The Holocaust killed 2/3 of European Jews, which was a devastating blow to the population, but nowhere near extinction level. There were significant Jewish populations in the Americas, the Soviet Union, the Middle East, and other areas that Germany had no control over. Not only that, it's much easier to kill 67% of a population than 99%, and much easier still to kill 99% than 100%. So no, you're the ones who need to learn some history--Jews were never in danger of going extinct in WWII, even in the worst possible scenario of complete German domination of Europe and North Africa.

Ideasrule is correct, it is widely accepted as fact with generous estimates that 2/3rds of Jews in German controlled Europe died. A abhorrent number nonetheless, but not a global or even local extermination. The OP and his girl are two retarded peas in a pod.

115- While the numbers you have are correct, the Jewish population was still close to extinction. The reason for this is that if Hitler had won the war, he would have continued to exterminate the Jews as quickly as possible. The number itself may not have been close to extinction, but in reality, there was a high possibility that Hitler would not have stopped killing Jews if he had won the war.

Nope still wrong^ Hitler's "final solution" or the increased systematic killing of those held at internment and death camps came near the later half of the war. AFTER Germany began losing in other words.

51- it's easy to see why you'd think that, but apparently Jews actually are an ethnic. You can be born to the Jewish race and not follow the religion, but you are born a Jew. I was told this during a Religious studies lesson, but I'm not 100% sure of it. And I'm not going to fight about it with other commenters, either. If I'm wrong, then I accept that.

Most of my family is Jewish (it passes down through the blood of the mother not the father). It is a race of people and a religion. You can be of Jewish blood but not Jewish faith, or of Jewish faith but not Jewish blood. And you can only convert into the faith, not into blood lines.

You're considered a Jewish if you have a Jewish mother.

No one is ever, or will ever be considered a jewish, BUT they can be a follower of Judaism, they can be Jewish, they can never be a jewish.
