Today, I was talking to my girlfriend about extinct peoples, and I said how close the Jewish people came to becoming one. She condescendingly told me they don't exist anymore. When I asked what she was talking about, I realized she was confusing them with the Vikings. What the hell? FML

What the hell indeed! I don't know, their light white skin, thick accents, and their ability on horses are easy to confuse... Wait... Never mind. I'm thinking about Prussians.

She might be on to something. I've never heard of a Jewish Viking.

So she's not the sharpest tool in the shed. :D

The people of Scandinavia, home of the vikings, are still very much alive. And I should know because I'm from Denmark.

She doesn't sound very bright, hopefully she's hot ;D

the Jewish people have a reputation for never going extinct, after tons of persecution. dont worry about it

Vikings also do still exist btw. My Norwegian friend's brother is a straight up Viking.

Vikings actually aren't extinct. My friend's cousin legitimately worships Thor in Norway

... ok, so I can think of numerous historic jewish tribes which have essentially become extinct through violence, disease and intergration, but I can't think of a time when all jewish communities as a whole were truly at risk of extinction? Unless you consider inter-marriage and conversion to result in the extinction of judaism as a distinct racial entity? Which has not completely been the case, though I believe that something like 80% of the blood of European Jews is not genetically related to the initial Jewish tribes of the middle east. However, more direct ancestors of the original Jews can still be found in Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Morocco, Turkey, Tunisia and Egypt (amongst others). Does anyone have a good link explaining when this near-extinction took place? In my knowledge, there has never been a point in history when the entire Jewish people have risked extinction, helped somewhat by their dispersed nature, even prior to the Roman conquest of 70 AD.

I'm guessing that your girlfriend could possibly be blonde
