Today, I was texting a girl I like, explaining how she looks like an attractive celebrity. She responded with a picture of a very unattractive lady and asked if she looked like that. I told her if she had been caught in a burning building, then yes, that would look like her. It was of her mom. FML

Hey guys. First off, I am very happy to have had this published, but I would like to clarify some things and clear the misunderstandings! My friends mom is not actually a burn victim, she just wasn't attractive at all and didn't resemble her daughter either. We had been texting previously, and she was sending me pictures of celebrities and asking if she looked like that. She then sent that picture of her mom, who was honestly very unattractive. I thought I was being clever with the whole "caught in a burning building" joke, but it was just the wrong time to use it. Believe me when I say I have nothing against burn victims, as that's seriously a weird thing to hate on. After I found out I apologized and she accepted, so everything is fine now! Thanks for taking the time to read this, I just wanted you guys to not think I'm some weird shallow guy who hates burn victims and is only after girls for their looks.

She dogged a bullet OP. No reason to go that far especially when you she showed you the picture of someone she thought she shared some resemblance with. The person who said when you go on a date watch how they treat people in general was right. You don't get sympathy for being a douche bag.

Here's a tip that'll help you with the ladies, OP: no matter how ugly a person is, particularly if she is female, NEVER make rude comments about her. Girls will feel more comfortable with you if you are nice to all women, regardless of appearance. This includes highly attractive women, too.

I think she was setting you up. You said she looked like a celebrity so instead she send a picture of what she clams to be her mother. She must have known the photo was less attractive then the celebrity u imagined. She probably sent you a picture of someone random who wasn't so attractive so u would put your foot in it. I'd say she didn't like u in the first place! Agreed that u should have been more careful as either way u had no idea who it was and regardless it is someone with feelings.

I don't know. On one hand he was trying to tell the girl she was pretty and he didn't want to insult her by saying she looked like the woman (FYL) But on the other the way he went about saying it wasn't quite right. (YDI)
