Today, I was told that my insurance will no longer cover my birth control as it's deemed "unnecessary" for a man, which, according to them, I've been since August. I'm definitely still a woman. FML

to 18- I'm the op... I didn't realize I hadn't been signed in when I posted. Basically, I have had the same.insurance for years and been using it for the same birth control for at least 5. I'm not sure what happened... Some clerical error I guess. I had it figured out but it was definitely weird.

It's those ******* jeans! Jeans always make you look like you have a boner. Even if you're female.

Well that's ******* dumb of your insurance.

Did they pay for the sex change.

Sounds like you might have a case of identity theft on your hands... Nuts. ._.

I'm going to assume "nuts" was an intentional pun and let you know you just made me laugh so hard my coffee came out my nose.

jeeeez your insurance company really consists of a bunch of dicks.

show me evidence of female genitalia and i will believe you

Somehow I doubt she really gives a **** if you believe her or not.

Gotta love the incompetence of the private insurance system sometimes. If you don't have a condition to boot you off their services, they'll make one for you.

Why would they think you're a man? It's really one of those FMLs when I'd love to see the OP's comments.

That's horrible! I guess the only logical option would be to gain 100 pounds, move to Quintana Roo, and start writing Justin Bieber fan mail under the alias "Victor Ortega".

Most health insurances are issued over the phone. so of OP has a heavy voice, it might have caused the rep to list her as "male". Some reps might think its rude to ask the customer if they are a male/female, however, it is their responsibility to confirm it since coverages differ for both.

Don't worry, social security thinks I'm a man... I'm not.

Someone else mentioned identity theft...have you looked into that? I found out a few months ago that I was a Canadian and stole a car. That was harsh, but at least I was still female.

I actually got it fixed. It looks like it was just a clerical error, but its definitely weird. I just don't know how that happens in the middle of the year, but considering how it had to be changed back, I doubt it was identity theft.

My insurance screwed up my husband's birth year updating out records. Caused a few claims to get turned down. They picked them up after we found the error but it took a few calls to find someone willing to find the problem.

Well, it's good it's fixed now, OP! Also, it's actually good that you're on the pills, because at least you found out about the whole situation relatively quickly - I'm not sure if it'd be that easy to fix after a few years.

Well I had a coworker who got pronounced death by the administrative system. U think just showing up alive and well would fix it, but no he (or his wife better said) often had to present his death certificate or was told she would risk being seud for insurance fraud. How did it happen? Most administration office have a secondary test system for new people to practice how to process death, birth or things like a sex change. Sometimes instead of logging in the testsystem the login the normal instead
