Today, I was told that my insurance will no longer cover my birth control as it's deemed "unnecessary" for a man, which, according to them, I've been since August. I'm definitely still a woman. FML

to 18- I'm the op... I didn't realize I hadn't been signed in when I posted. Basically, I have had the same.insurance for years and been using it for the same birth control for at least 5. I'm not sure what happened... Some clerical error I guess. I had it figured out but it was definitely weird.

It's those ******* jeans! Jeans always make you look like you have a boner. Even if you're female.

Well that's ******* dumb of your insurance.

Apparently when my eldest brother was born, the doctor accidentally listed him as "female." It stayed like that on his birth certificate for years. Mom would go get it fixed, but whenever he needed a new copy of his birth certificate, yet again he would be listed as female and she would have to get it corrected. We made fun of him mercilessly about it.

Just call your employee benefits center. They should be able to fix it for you. It probably came over on an automatic feed incorrect. I work in benefits, I see stuff like that all the time. It only takes one HR director to imput the wrong code and its all messed up. Its an easy fix though.

The insurance company determined that you are man-faced and are, therefore, unlikely to need birth control. Unless, of course, you ply men with massive quantities of alcohol.

I think it's time to take this matter into your own hands and either go see them in person, or/and threaten to find another insurance carrier. What idiots.

I feel your pain. My insurance company quit paying for mine because its a "preventive drug" I don't need it for health reasons.

Do you have Kaiser? That sounds like something they'd do.

Once, after 2 years of receiving federal Stafford Loans, they decided to withhold my loan check because I wasn't enrolled in selective service. I was definitely still a woman, too. Corporations and bureaucracies are great at that.
