Today, I was turned down from my dream job at a graphic design firm. Before the interview, concerned about my hobo style would not impress the company, I shaved, cut my long hair, and even bought a suit. They said I wasn't "free-spirited and creative enough." FML

You should never change your style for someone else.

FYI Mercy, not everyone is going to think she's pretty. Oh no!

The point was that people are insulting me, like it's their place to judge or as though they are the hottest things on the planet. Jeez, don't you know how to function in society? Some things aren't appropriate to say.

#78 wins the internet. I think I'm in love. :)

Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. What might be attractive to some is repulsive to others so just take pride in yourself. Intox I don't know why you would listen to the opinions of those online when it comes to insults, they never met you after all. Speaking of which it's real mature to insult someone online, real mature, ******* posers. ________________________ www.myspace.com/rapid99

Like I said, it doesn't change the way I feel about myself. The only reason I ever responded to it is because I feel a duty to the rest of society to try to inform people that being that way won't go over well. NOT a duty to change them, mind you. I just feel like I need to put it out there for them to take or leave. Just like if I saw someone parenting their kid in some awful way that manages to fit within the realm of legality. I would feel bad if I didn't say something, as though maybe I could have prevented future problems. Then, if they tell me to **** off or whatever, I'll feel ok because I tried.

Why waste your time when you know it most likely won't work? Even if you managed to make it work, they most likely would act different in front of you and for you, but be completely opposite when you're not around. _______________________ www.myspace.com/rapid99

To make myself feel better, and because I want to. God, can you people read? Also, people here keep giving me advice. I'm doing what I want, I'm happy with it. I'm not changing it for you.

Lmfao you both just fail so hard. Sure sure, backpeddling and all that. Really, I can say she can only get hobos if I want to. Hmm.. maybe you shouldn't be such an asskisser. Here, let me say you can only get hobos too 'cause of how retarded you sound. OK now go take that 4srs and cry and/or write some more pathetic comments. Please.

Of course you can say that if you want, and we can say what we want. Ass kissing? It's called not being a stuck-up bitch. Try it.

Oh please, don't get your panties in a bunch. For one, you weren't the one I was calling an ass kisser. And if you must label me as 'stuck-up', then fine. I can live with that. In fact, I seem to get along just fine being how I am.

#131, haha. Owned her. I know who you were referring to, drkwlf. I was pointing out, since MercyFML didn't seem to be here at that moment, that she wasn't kissing ass. Apparently you can't open your mouth without spewing shit, but (and this is going to be a huge revelation, so you may want to sit) NOT everyone is that way. You enjoy being an unpleasant person. Good for you. I'm sure it will work for you, for a while, until you realize how lonely it is being the only one who can stand yourself. Just say "I was joking on the original comment," and that will be it. You didn't even look at my picture, so it sounds like it wasn't meant to be a real insult. So why continue defending yourself when you could just admit it came out wrong?

It doesn't really matter what internet people think. Surprise.

i'm a graphic designer, if you didn't already know you should research the company you're interviewing with BEFORE the actual interview, most graphic design firms have websites (i know shocking) you can tell a culture just from that. live and learn my friend...you're lucky you got an interview right now.

that sucks, I'm sorry. hope you find something soon

being free spirited and creative doesn't have much to do with how you look. i hate pretentious bastards who think being an artist is an image. being an artist is about creating art; long hair and all those things has nothing to do with it.

again... in the art world, how you present yourself to a company often IS an indicator of how you understand their style and image to be - which is (surprise!) actually IMPORTANT in a field of creating logos and images for companies who seek out your help since it is based on the assumption that you will understand the look and/or feel of a product or image they are going for.

also intoxicunt you need to get a job yourself and not sit on Fmylife all day. while you're jobless perhaps change your login name to something not disgusting and self deprecating.

I'm 17. I HAVE a job. I'm starting college. I can spend my free time how I wish. Way to assume and be completely wrong, bitch. Ohhh, yes, I will get right on changing a great name that I get complimented on all the time for you, because you don't like it. Don't like the name Intoxicunt? Don't use it for yourself. What a novel idea!

Nothing really. It's a combined word that sounds cool. Like Meccamputechture. I thought it could mean "intoxicating, but a **** at the same time" which kind of loosely describes me (by **** I mean blunt and doesn't take shit). But when I thought it up, that wasn't the idea.

0. i just thought it was like something agressive?dangerous(toxic)and funny/perverted(****)but perverted in a good way.

I like that. It was more a humorous mispronunciation of INTOXICANT though. A lot of people don't notice that and only see the "toxic" part. But it's cool, it's all open to interpretation!

I thought it meant drunk ****! go figure.

oh. I feel so bad. I love hobo looking guys! I don't agree with the people, because it's what you draw not what you wear. So they're stupid. And you shouldn't have cut your hair. Long hair is awesome. ;)

To be honest, if you had the right personality and approach, it would have come across in the interview. I'm sorry you missed your dream job, but you wouldn't be more creative if you still had long hair.

I don't think creative free spirit is synonymous with unkempt... my boyfrien cut his hair and shaved his beard.. guess what, still creative AND free spirited!!! it shows through your personality and soul.. you can't dress it up or down

Maybe it wasn't your appearance, maybe it was your personality?
