awwww. i'm sorry. that's too bad that you didn't get your dream job. :( however, you have learned a valuable lesson. BE YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!! If they can't accept you for that that's their problem. :) good luck, getting another job.
uh. you know having long hair and a hobo style does not make you creative and free-spirited right? If they said you were not good enough, it is because you did nothing to impress them. Looking generic does not inhibit your career chances, it is what you say and do in the interview that makes you memorable, not your appearance (unless you are hideously deformed). So you deserved to not get the job, because you evidently do not grasp the tools necessary to conduct an interview based on anything other than your hair length.
I feel so sorry for you, dude. :(
design is an art, fyi, you can design your own personal idea, not every design is set to a standard. I go to an arts highschool and designing is one of the majors. know what you're saying before you say it. but yeah thats really sucks for you man, dont be afraid to express who you are! art IS free spirited!
I go to VCU for graphic design, which is in the art department, which I had to go through Art Foundation program for. It used to be called communication arts. In fact we are #4 in the country for GDES. Its an art that has a specific job, which is to communicate. DEAR GOD, art having a purpose means that its not longer an art! Wait, that means all of the portrait artists back in the day weren't actually artists right? Because they had clients? Because they got paid. $hit.
Aww. D: That really sucks. I majored in Graphic Design as well and can't find a job. However my boyfriend has pretty long hair and he has a great job. XD So yeah. The idea I got in college was that people sort of expect the more 'artsy' of us to be a little quirky and weird. My job search teacher even told us in a mixed major class that 'you graphic designers can get away with more'. I'm not sure if it's true or not, maybe for different companies or firms.
Never change yourself for the man, man! Be unique :)
