Today, I was working at IHOP serving a table full of drunk idiots. After an hour of taking care of them I went to clean up their mess to find the tip they had left me. On a napkin a girl had wrote "Here's your tip for the night: Don't play leap frog with unicorns." FML
I agree, your life sucks 34 395
You deserved it 3 222

Umm. The only reason It happened because we were just starting 3rd shit at that IHOP And the only people who realized that we were open were the drunk people. So there's bound to be assholes. And I deserve it for my name? Ummm No.

Second off. WTF dose it matter what my name is? Sorry I'm a fan of ICP. Wait...No I'm not sorry. I like them. I grew up around their music. So Get over it. And I didn't expect tips. But it's rather rude to leave something like that when I was overly nice, on time with everything, and everything came out right.

OP if you're following the thread, a) yes it sucks, Sorry. b) a suggestion. Many resteraunts have policies in place that help with situations like this, ie, 'parties over 6 will automatically have a 15% gratituty added to their bills' , and things of this nature. Perhaps you can discuss it with your manager? I know, it might be against corperate policy and all but hey it couldn't hurt to ask right?

Thank god in Canada waitresses get paid the standard $8.65 regardless of tips, so they don't have to rely so much on getting tips, however FYL. Majorly. Service industry workers definitely don't get paid enough to put up with the shit they do.

oh, i know what this is!! it's part of the message on the 'rejection hotline', which is a number girls give to guys when they don't want to date them. when he calls it the guy tells them they have been rejected and the girl thinks it would be more pleasant to play leapfrog with unicorns than date him. guess she didn't have the number on her, lol

thing about it is, you're paying them to SERVE YOU. you pay to get it all brought to you and get your drinks refilled versus you walking your ass up to a counter or your fat ass doing no more than shouting out your car window.

No, you dumb piece of shit, I'm paying them for ready-made FOOD, them bringing it to me is a given. You see in civilised countries the grand majority of the population can take care of themselves ie. COOK FOOD, not be a fat bastard rolling around walmart in those scooter craps, looking for the nearest dose of oreos, and eating out 5 times a week because you're too useless to make food for yourself.

If you think someone working for $2 an hour bringing you food while you sit on your fat ass is a given sounds like you have some pretty major self-entitlement and laziness issues.

Here's a tip: Move to a state that pays the same minimum wage for all workers. California. Oregon. Washington. Alaska. Or you could try a state like Connecticut or Maine. They pay pretty well. I mean, what's the point of waiting tables if you didn't want to just pack up and leave whenever you felt like?

Here's a tip: had written. And I am not even a native speaker.

All of you people who are saying waiters and waitresses shouldn't expect tips- have any of you ever BEEN a server? If not, you probably don't realize how hard it is to have to deal with people in restaurants. Most people are assholes and it's very stressful. And to not tip because your food comes out wrong? You do realize that your server doesn't actually make your food and that it's the cooks fault when something like that happens? I think everybody needs to listen to Lewis Black's "Leave a Tip". Because it is 100% accurate. Everybody should have to work in a restaurant at some point in their life, because if they did, EVERYONE would leave a tip ALL the time.

Should be mandatory in your first year of college, or last year of school or something.

So the job's stressful. Great. If you can't handle it, then quit. Waiting tables can be quite a lucrative job, which is why it's attractive to unskilled single women. Other unskilled labor jobs make around minimum wage, or a couple dollars more. Even warehouse jobs run ~$10.00 an hour. A good waiter can make double that. Yes, waiters run the risk of serving a large party and getting undertipped. I'm sure the event is so scarring that it makes them forget all about the parties who overtip them. Just as overtipping is an unexpected reward of the job, so is undertipping an unexpected risk. Waiters with common sense should know going in that tipping isn't enforced, and common sense should dictate that they'll sometimes get stiffed. If they don't know this, they'll figure it out after it happens a few times. It's part of the job. If this is undesirable, the person should find a job that is not dependent on tips. Bitching about getting stiffed on tips is poor form and should only be done with friends and coworkers, as with bragging about large tips. If you miss a tip, suck it up, and hope that the rest of the week makes up for the loss. If the cash flow per pay period isn't enough, one should find another restaurant, find another job, or manage one's money better. There are lower paying jobs than waiting tables out there.

Unskilled single women? Wow, that's a huge and offensive generalisation. I think you'll find it's a job more commonly done by students while studying who don't have other options. Just because someone does a job they don't enjoy because they don't have other choices doesn't mean it's OK for assholes who live in a country where they know it's expected and factored into how much they are charged to say "well if they don't enjoy it, they can quit".

I dont think that he was saying that ONLY unskilled single women take waiting jobs..... he just said that they are attractive to them. And I'm guessing that if they're still going to school then you can call them unskilled. I mean, i know that you can have your doctorate and still be a waitress or waiter but for the most part they are unskilled. So to recap, it might be a huge offensive generalization if she said something like "all unskilled single women long to have a job bussing tables" or "only unskilled single women waitress", but he didnt....

The fact that he thought their relationship status had anything to do with it actually is kind of offensive. It implies they're losers no one would date. Otherwise why mention it at all? And unskilled doesn't mean unqualified or in the process of studying.

Dude, just laugh it off, because it's pretty damn funny. I'm sure you made more money in tips the rest of the night to cover it.
