Today, I was working at the school when one of the kids came crying to me about needing help with his zipper after a little "accident". Forbidden by a district ordinance to touch them in certain areas, there was nothing I could do; to which he cried and pissed his pants. Again. FML

Then tell them to go to the Nurse, who obviously can touch students anywhere the nurse sees fit,

"Hello, Mrs Doe! This is the principal at John's school. We had to cut his pants again since he couldn't unzip them himself..." "/.../" "No, you are well aware of that we are allowed to touch the children's hips, but not the behind or front." "/.../" "Yes, we used scissors." "/.../" "No, we didn't hurt him with the scissors as we accidentally did the last time." "/.../" "If you say so, Mrs. Doe, we can let him spend the day in his peed pants, but I want that in writing from you and your husband." I really think that the fear of pedophiles has taken monstrouous proportions. Why not tdress the kids up in Burqa to protect them from peeping?

I'd have him go to the nurse for help.

Because Americans can sue or be sued for ANYTHING (mild exaggeration) they make stupid laws and ordinances like this to avoid being sued by angry parents. Parents that don't want to take responsibility for their kid's actions; ergo, blaming video games for violence. Blame bad role models and MTv instead!

you should have just unzipped his pants. use your common sense. poor kiddeh

&Lost her job? Yeah, common sense alright.

**** that shit I'm sorry I would have helped the little boy anyway. There's no way I would let a crying kid just stand there and pee themselves again. Yes, I understand OP could have been in big trouble and I'm not blaming them for following the rules. I'm just saying I would have helped the poor kid.

Forbidden by department ordinance and federal law...

Jeeeebus send a flipping note home to his parents to only put him in sweats or athletic pants for school. Poor kid.

I used to work at a sort of day care, and in the summer the kids (2-8 years old) would change into bathing suits and play outside in sprinklers/ kiddie pools we set up. We weren't allowed to help them put on rub-in sunscreen, because that involved too much touching. Obviously, they needed sunscreen though, so to cover our ass, we had them find a sunscreen buddy who we then supervised. That way we could tell any parent who got upset "I saw everything that happened, there wasn't any inappropriate touching." But the kids could still be protected from the sun. I would suggest something similar. You could also have the boy hold the pants away from him as you undid the clasp. Or, even better, call the parent and let them know he's having trouble undoing them. The request he wears pants he can undo by himself to avoid this (either by practicing at home, modifying current pant, or buying pull up/down pants)
