That sucks man. I've been in a similar situation where I've had people actually get on a bus, then get off again immediately because they didn't like my piercings and overall appearance. Apparently they had to "get away from that disgusting goth".
don't worry op I'm sure it looks good :D

Guess it's to hard for that woman to not be a dumbass
Some people can be so rude, I served a lot of customers at my old job who have all called me several names because I have my septum done, personally I love them and fortunately I dont/didnt take anything said to heart as it's got nothing to do with them
My wife has a cute one of those. We haven't had any troubles in nebraska.
I don't know if you can take it off or not, but while working I'd take it off if possible, a lot of people including myself don't find it even slightly tasteful. I don't judge people who have them, its your body, do whatever you want with it, but I just personally think they look really ugly.
Haha "I don't judge people who have them but I find it ugly so you should take it off"
I know I'm going to sound like an ass for this, but I'm leaning more towards YDI on this one, OP. While I have several piercings and tattoos and have no objections to them, I work with the public also and know that it's extremely unprofessional to have them exposed at work. That's why I don't have any that are visible unless I want them to be visible. I know it's only a grocery store, but what about when you go to an interview for a career where you'd be potentially making upwards of 6 figures?
Seeing as she was at work and none of her bosses/managers etc hadn't asked her to remove it then I can only assume that she works in a piercing friendly environment, therefore she should not have to take it out!! Personally, I work in a STEM industry, and while I can easily hide all of my piercings I don't generally have to!
I find a lot of stuff ugly and unflattering on people but I never tell them. Why would I? It has nothing to do with me and they obviously like it or they wouldn't wear it. But if someone questions my piercings or tattoos I do have the right to question their taste aswell.

Did you gag back at her attitude?
Definitely not. Whenever I see one I imagine a bull stamping it's hoof.
