Today, I was working with the kid I babysit for. We were out and he complained that he was hungry. I spent my very last $2 on chicken nuggets for him and a coffee for myself. Just as I sat down, he knocked over my coffee, spilling it into his chicken nuggets. Then he cried for over an hour. FML

Wrong. I have been babysitting/nannying for 7 years in 2 different countries and every family I have ever sat for has either provided food or provided money to buy food. The only exception was a really rich and snobby family from France who always expected me to take their children out to restaurants or on outings, saying they would "reimburse me" and then getting angry when I explained I do not have money to take their children out just sitting in my bank account, that they would need to pay upfront. They were the worst family I have ever sat for, and their previous nanny who I got to meet and speak with confided in me that the whole family was incredibly spoiled. Any costs relating to childcare are ALWAYS paid for by the parents, and in my personal experience, meals/snacks for the sitter have always been provided/taken care of as well.

I don't see "Broccoli nuggets" easily accessible for a dollar anywhere.

Actually, Coffee McNuggets don't sound like a bad entrée; it sounds rather marketable. It's not like you couldn't have just let him eat the McNuggets anyway, even if they would've made him a bit hyper. Also, it sounds like you're a pretty crappy babysitter if you couldn't find a way to stop the kid from crying for that long.

$2 for chicken nuggets AND a coffee holy shit :O that would cost at least $5 here

that sucks the parents should give u money for the little one I use to bs and the parents would pay for the kid and I if I would take the kid out because they know kids are kids and they want everything. I hope u at least double charge the parents I mean you spent your money on their kid and he ruined your coffe they have to pay for it... good luck or better get better job or better paying parents LOL
