Today, I went back to my high school for an event with some of my friends, both of which are in relationships. Whilst there we saw our favorite teacher, who hugged us and said, "I heard you have a boyfriend! And so do you!" And then she turned to me and said, "And... And you're doing great things!" FML

I hate how so many people seem to think that having a relationship is the most important thing. Yes, it is nice to have a romantic partner. But just because someone doesn't have one doesn't make them some kind of loser!

Don't take it to heart! So many people are single! Nothing wrong with it, I'm sure your old teacher felt super awkward after she realized she had nothing to say right off the bat about you

I find it a little concerning that even someone who works in the education system values romance over knowledge and actual accomplishment.

Having a boyfriend isn't any kind of achievement. If that is the only way you rate yourself, you are setting the bar way too low.

Yes, you are doing great, amazing things :D

Being single is some of the great things in life :)

A relationship doesn't define you or make you a better person. If you're seriously doing great things with your life and all the teacher can say nice to the other ones is they found a boyfriend (which may or may not last) then you're doing WAY better than them. Way to go. Keep reaching for the stars!

Well, the bright side is she made an effort to give you a compliment too!

And your response was I was knew you were the worst teacher ever

Don't take it bad. The most memorable things your friends have done is steadily slept with the same person. ;).
