Today, I went back to school after missing the first 2 weeks of the new school year. I got grilled in my first lesson by my teacher for "gallivanting around on holiday in some sunny place" when I should've been at school learning. My dad had died from liver cancer. FML

well tell that bitch why you missed the first 2 weeks! :/

This is probably one of those very rare instances where you could cuss out your teacher big time and get away with it... after you have explained to the head teacher that you father just died of course.

We should be reading this tomorrow, seriously: "Today, I was called to my Superintendent's office for sternly reprimanding a student who ditched the first two weeks of school to go on holiday. It turns out his father was dying of cancer during those two weeks. FML."

#228, its the principal's boss, the head of the school district

Obviously the teacher didn't know about the OP's reason for being absent and reasonably assumed it was the much more likely extended vacation. It was the school's job to insure that the OP's teachers were all notified, at least, that he had a sensitive reason for his absence.

my friends dad just died and she came back to school the next week. he had died on a Thursday. but everybody deals with it differently. I probably wouldn't wanna get outta bed (but u can't even IMAGINE what it's like to lose my dad) but she just didn't wanna have to stay home because there was nothing to distract her. I missed school for the funeral and all the tears she hadn't cried at school cane out there. we all cried so hard. it was awful. I'm so sorry.

I agree with these ppl. I'd tell that teacher what was up and then I'd give her a peice of my mind.

Who the **** seriously believes that this person DESERVED to have their father pass away? They need to be removed from the gene pool before it's too late. That's just stupid. No one deserves that. It's been more than 5 years since my Dad died, and I still can't get over it. It kills me knowing that it has to happen to everyone. My condolences :(

Aww I'm so sorry. :( Losing someone as close as a parent is one of the hardest things to experience in my opinion. If I saw you I would hug you. :(

teachers are mentally challenged these days

something seriously wrong with the teachers today. we need to reform our education systems badly

I'm sorry for your loss OP. But I do have to ask, why does everyone just assume the teacher is a woman? If the gallivanting thing is a quote, to me it sounds more like it's a man. Just saying....
