Today, I went back to school after missing the first 2 weeks of the new school year. I got grilled in my first lesson by my teacher for "gallivanting around on holiday in some sunny place" when I should've been at school learning. My dad had died from liver cancer. FML

Today, my English teacher asked me why I didn't have my project completed. Thinking quick on my feet, I told her it was because my grandmother had just passed away. Apparently they go to the same country club and have known each other for years. My teacher started crying and ran out of the room. FML

Today, I had to go to my daughter's school because she hasn't been going to class. Her teacher seemed surprised to see me with my husband when we arrived. Apparently I "died" recently and my daughter has had extra responsibility around the house, hence why she doesn't come to class. FML

Today, after I missed in school for two and a half weeks, I also missed three tests. Now I gotta work for all of them during my holidays and read two books for school. My holidays are just gonna be like school, but with more work. FML

Today, I left for college. I spent hundreds of dollars on clothes, bedding and other things. After packing my entire closet and everything else I needed, I left only to have to head back home. My dad forgot to pay the first semesters tuition. He said "Oh well, you would have failed out anyway." FML

Today, I spent my first day with my parents for the first time in a year as I've been away at university. My dad went to work, and my mum spent the whole day playing mahjong with her friends as they all told me "how fat I've gotten" and how "boys won't like it". FML

You can tell a little in advance when someone's about to go from something like cancer. It doesn't come all of a sudden, and if I knew my father only had a week to live you can bet I'd be spending every minute of that remaining time with him.

Excuse me?? When my mom died I missed 2 weeks of school, and that was in 2nd grade. You have no right to say someone is 'taking advantage' of their parents death! Completely uncalled for. Clearly you don't know what it's like to loose a parent. So don't try and assume that people are taking advantage of it, because if you've never felt the pain of loosing a parent, you clearly wouldn't know that 2 weeks of school is, YES, necessary.

Whoaa. the same thing happended to me the second week of school and i was telling my one friend about it and the teacher was like "shut up nobody cares about why you missed school" and i jsut walked out of the classroom and left the school shortly after
