I hate that! It's called "digging" and I do not let them do that! I rather them stick me again...NO DIGGING DAMMIT!
I have routine bloodwork as well, and it sucks when the nurse doing it is inexperienced or just doesn't do it right. She destroyed a vein in my arm once and it hurt like hell which in turn caused a few spots of internal hemorrhaging in my arm until it clotted properly, FYL.
Maybe the nurse didn't do it right, but there is no such thing as an "inexperienced nurse". They have practiced these millions of times in nursing school, clinicals during nursing school, and orientations before they're allowed to work. They could have bad technique, or maybe they just happened to have a bad go, it's not as easy as you think. But there's no such thing as an inexperienced nurse.
Bruhhh that gave me chills
Tell them you're on blood thinners. Scares the living hell out of the newbies and they won't touch you. They always make a supervisor take my blood. I love it because it's always a various of: "Hi, I'm a trainee- do you mind if I take your blood today?" Me: "Not at all! I just might mention I'm on coumadin though." Them: "I'm out. I'll go get my supervisor. I'm not touching you." Me: Satisfied smile. I don't really mind letting them practice every now and again if they seem like the type not to **** up. It's mainly about not blowing the vein and bandaging you the proper way after.
Lol not newbies. Just *******. Im still in my first year and that doesnt scare me. Definitely a good way to weed out the ones more likely to **** up though.
I'm a EMT and we have to do that all the time, we call it fishing for veins
This isn't what I wanted to read on my way to have a blood test D:
please tell me where this was in Albert, so I know where NOT to go.

You're a trooper. I would've screamed like a little bitch. That sounds awfully painful, and this is coming from someone with 4 tattoos.
So what's the diagnosis? Undead zombie or vampire?
