Considering OP's username, I'm guessing it wasn't because he'd only gotten her $15 dollar earrings that was the problem, it was because she wanted him to propose. So she's not really being ungrateful about the gift...

why is everyone calling OP ("noringforme") nasty names? She was expecting a proposal and acted silly in public because of it....then the proposal didn't happen and she felt ridiculous. I don't know if it qualifies as an FML (it'll be a funny story one day), but it doesn't make her a gold-digging bitch.

OP may not have been expecting a proposal- she got emotional over the name on the box-big difference...if she was expecting a ring the FML should have been worded differently. It does seem to be that she is materialistic and spoiled.

Damn has no one realized the reason why she stared crying in the first place what guy takes his gf on a date and takes out a Tiffany's box if it's not an engagment ring the ear rings didn't make her cry it was the fact she thought he was proposing!

Ii think the reason she cried is because she though it was a ring (engagement ring) so finding out that he had put something like that in a box that would make her so excited was a bit rude. But she is still being selfish and bitchy for only thinking about the price because he was trying to make it more special to her but he was to concerned with the price to understand that.

She's not complaining that he bought her cheap earrings; she's complaining that he deliberately tricked her into thinking he'd bought her something more expensive--and from her username, it seems she thought it was an engagement ring.
