Today, I went into labor with my first child, and as much as I pleaded, I had to wait for my husband to finish his raid in World of Warcraft before he'd take me to the hospital. FML

The lack of additional detail in the more then ample space left in her post makes me think that 1) everything was fine in the end and 2) either she did not really wait that long or she was told it was just as well she waited as any earlier would have done little good for anyone. So I would chalk it up to some drama queen who was called out as a dolt by her friends/family in RL for overreacting to the situation and is now pandering to a mass of complete strangers in the hopes of garnering their support for no other purpose then to use it as ammo against her husband in an argument. She had LOADS of space in that post to add some really damning stuff, but didn't. How many of you irate women who advocate smashing things would give up the chance to really make him look the total ass with just a few quick details? I live in a house with 4 girls/women. Even my three year old is more likely to include more detail then provided here in order to "win" the fight or get someone in trouble...Women will bring up that one time you left the seat up in the middle of the night a year and a half ago to support why you are wrong now on a COMPLETELY unrelated front just because it is something they can use to build a case on you being an inconsiderate jerk, but she gives a bare minimum of detail here when it would be most useful, I'm not buying it... I just get sick of people chalking extreme behavior up to WoW, or inflating things to make situations look worse(which is what I am really thinking is the case here) because they know once they put "WoW" or "World of Warcraft" in there then masses of the ignorant will flock to their side to make the cries of "WoW is the Devil! Anyone who plays it is a LOSER! You should BURN HIM!!!" There are some extreme cases of behavior, but that can be applied to nearly ALL hobbies/activities. There are always nutters who take it to the extreme, people need to realize WoW is no different. The nutters act as they do because they are loony in one way or another, not because WoW makes them that way...

Even if it would have been a 48-hour labor, doesn't justify her husband reacting like that. If I was in labor and my husband/boyfriend would've told me to wait, because he had to finish some STUPID (yes, that's right) videogame, he would've faced worse situations than losing a level or whatever the **** happened if he wouldn't have stopped playing. It's just selfish, rude, addictive behaviour.

I was just voicing my opinion (note that I never said he wasn't at fault, I just said that the complete lack of real info was highly suspicious and made me think that she was intentionally targeting WoW as a means to gain support). But on a happy note, when I went home last night I discussed this with my wife to see if perhaps I had missed the mark in my understanding. After reading her the FML as it was written I first asked her for her opinion prior to even hinting at mine. Her response, "Well...Being a first child she was likely completely unprepared and as a result WAY overreacted. Understandable, but still unnecessary." Then after I told her about my post she asked to see the thread. She spent the next half hour laughing hysterically at all the "Psychotic bitches" on the thread... Like I said, all you dolts who fly to the conclusion of "Divorce HIM!" "SMASH HIS STUFF" "HE'S A LOSER!" without any inkling of the other side of the story make me happy to be married to a sane rational woman who actually thinks about something before letting emotion take over and make her look foolish...So please, flame away, each post only serves to further affirm my belief you are all irrational twits =D

You are a lucky man. As am I, really, in that respect. Too many irrational people are out there and in relationships. The people here who told her to delete the account, etc, would probably ACTUALLY do that. There was a video on YouTube I saw a while back where a woman was "tired of her husband being lazy", so she deleted all of his characters. That's not rational, and it certainly wouldn't look good if divorce ever comes up. And on here recently, I read a FML from a guy who asked his girlfriend how much she weighed - her response was to throw his XBox out the window... And people on this site SUPPORTED her and told him he was wrong. I don't know where these people come from - the people who think that behavior is okay - but our society would be better off if they relaxed, thought about things, and then decided what actions would be best... Instead of just smashing shit.

That's messed up. What a shitty husband... I'd delete his account and see how he likes it. It's better that he stop playing anyway since you have a new baby. That will come first, and it seems like he has serious issues seeing the important things in life... >.>
