Today, I went to a big job interview. Eventually, the guy subtly enquired about my political beliefs. He seemed pretty laid-back and cool, so I told him, at which point he just chuckled and told me to leave. When I threatened to report him, he just said, "Who're they gonna believe, you or me?" FML

Would you really want to work for someone who cannot accept other peoples beliefs anyway?

Complain anyway. That's just not ******* cool. If he did it to you, he'll have done it to other people.

Location is Canada, not US, although I imagine laws are comparable.

1. That's illegal to inquire about. 2. YDI for walking into that trap.

For some reason I read the first lines as "I went to get a ********."

ydi for talking about politics during a job interview... its none of their business!

yeah pretty sure that is illegal, a company cannot deny you employment because of religion, politics, gender, pregnancy or anything like that. (did a quick search to see if Canadian laws matched up with US laws) Filing a report may not be a bad idea

Political beliefs are not protected. No recourse for you

Maybe he was testing to see how professional you were? More likely, just being a jerk. Sorry, Original Poster!

Unfortunately it is hard to prove this one. Yes that is a trick question and you should answer very obscurely, but since you answered honestly, you would have to prove that is why you were not hired, which is near impossible to do :/ sorry OP hope you find something else

Sorry, but YDI for being naive enough to answer the question in the first place.

Complain any way! You might be the 10th person who does this too. Guess what? the last nine didn't complain neither. Start a paper trail on this asswipe!
