Today, I went on my first date in seven months. We hit it off really well, having a lot of things in common. The only thing we don't have in common is a tan line from a wedding ring. FML

Hi op here! I'm only twenty. I have plenty of time to date. This happened months ago anyways. I have an amazing boyfriend now. And yes I was single for seven months. You would too if you catch your ex sleeping with your cousin. It was a wedding ring and he is still happily married with a baby on the way.

Hey, maybe they're recently divorced! Just ask, OP.

You know what you need to do. Wrap a string around your finger and spray that baby with some instant tan-in-a-can. You're welcome.

My 18 yo brother wears a ring on his ring finger just because it fits best there. He got a tan line over the summer. Maybe same thing here?

Or could be wearing a lord of the rings ring and took it off to meet you....yep I know ppl still wearing that ring

Maybe he get divorced or maybe it wasn't a wedding ring. Just ask what the ring was. Never start a relationship with distrust.

Just ask; like everyone else is saying, it could be a resent divorce or separation.

As others have said, it could be a recent divorce or separation. My mum clung on to her wedding ring for a while after the separation and finally took it off when she was done and ready to move on.

Yeah, you have a point. Please disregard my post above, haha!

I don't get why this was downvoted. It's pretty reasonable to assume this was just something that made OP check with him and find out the truth.

Well, I didn't read the above posts before sending mine, which is necessary. I can't blame anyone except myself for the downvotes.

SEVEN months? Jesus, OP, you might want to take what you can get; somebody who has been single for that long barely has any time left to date. Six months ago, sure, you were young and had your WHOLE life ahead of you. But now… you poor thing.

Great, would you two mind getting a room? I hate being the third wheel in a relationship with my sarcasm.

Unfortunately, the cutoff age for Tripartita's Excellently Named Class in Sarcasm Comprehension is nineteen. You were so close. :-P

Damn OP! You're cousin should be ashamed of herself as well as your loser ex-boyfriend. Glad you're in a relationship with a good guy Hope your relationship continues to blossom!

Dear Lord. That is absolutely awful. I'm so sorry, OP. **** the wife and child's lives too.

"Happily married" and trying to date you? Does Not Compute

It basically means he's not leaving his wife, he's just an asshole who cheats on her whenever he wants.

@23, or him and his wife are in an open relationship, both agreeing with the other that while they are still married, they can both date/sleep with other people. (or in a simpler term, they're swingers) Just a thought.

So wait, you can post a fml that happened in the past?

@#24 Sure that might be the case, but he should probably let the people he is going on dates with know the situation if that's how it is.

Doesn't sound like happily to me. That poor woman should know the truth.

I have to disagree. Why take the ring off, then? I happen to have such a relationship and the *first* thing I say is yes, we are married but we are open to seeing other people. Taking the ring off smacks WAY too much of dishonesty.

#26 Well, duh. Of course you can post an FML that happened in the past. It'd be pretty hard to post one from the future.

Dude I've been happily single for over 3 years because guys are ******* terrible. I get you. It's all about your personal comfort ability. Happy that you're happy now!

I can understand that. I've been single for a year and caught my girlfriend cheating on me with the guy she told me "isn't a threat" and who I became friends with. :/

What did the child have anything to do with this?

You do know there are non-standard kinds of relationships, right?

Wow, dude had some issues, glad you're happy now, OP. :D

your comments always make me laugh! you're so funny!

I'm glad you found someone better than these two absolute wet pancakes you had the unfortunate experience of dating. Good wishes to you and your boyfriend, OP!

what if it really wasn't a wedding ring but just a ring he wore because he likes it or special to him

I don't understand why this is getting downvoted. while this isn't the case here, it could have been very possible. My cousin wears a ring that was our grandfather's, he's been wearing it everyday since our grandpa died, 5 years ago, because its very special to him. I'm sure if you took it off of him, there would be a tan line. And before someone argues, why the left hand, and not the right, your left hand doesn't have to be reserved for a wedding ring. I wear rings on my left ring finger all the time, simply because its more comfortable than my right.
