Today, I went to a new dentist because I've been experiencing occasional toothache. Upon seeing my x-rays, he noticed something odd. Apparently, during a root canal a while ago, a piece of an instrument broke off, and has been lodged within ever since. FML

LOL'd at your username but seriously, sue the dentist and obviously get a new one.

I worked as a dental tech in the military. Things like that have happened and I can say in a civilian specialty practice, they usually will replace the instruments over time, preventing such incident. If it was a disposable file, that would explain more to what happened....just FYI

That's what I meant, #118. The dentists I've had sucked so much they had to hold the suction tube themselves. I have a chronic toothache, and yes, as regular FML readers know, I do fellate, and I'm good at it.

You should sue them! That's horrible!

Wait. This actually happened to a friend of mine.

The same thing happened to me. I switched dentist 3 different times because I was complaining of the same tooth hurting, and no one was doing anything for me. One of the 3 dentist that I had went to for this tooth, him and his nurse told me that there was no way this tooth that i just got a root canal on could still be hurting because they take the nerves out of the tooth. They ignored my comment on how it had a throbbing pain, and still proceeded to jab at it with one of their tools. I finally went to a dentist that had enough since to x-ray my mouth, to find a piece of a tool shoved up in my gums, right next to my sinus cavity, infected. The main point of me getting a root canal was for me to save my original tooth, because i could not afford to have it pulled and a fake one put in. Now, I have two very expensive bills, and a gap in my mouth. FML.

In the US, your well within your rights to sue their sorry asses! Sue them.

Wow this happened to 2 people I know! It really sucks but I'm glad you caught it before it got too bad!

honestly darlin, I think you should sue for malpractice and gross negligence

You can have them pay the bill for negligence and malpractice.
